Goodies for Grandparents/International Dot Day

Sam Fordyce Elementary held its annual Goodies for Grandparents/International Dot Day on September 13, 2019. Over 150 families showed up and participated in the planned activities. Grandparents got to mingle and enjoy refreshments for the first 30 minutes of their visit; they were then joined by their grandchildren. This event was even more special this year as the ACE Folklorico Group led by Mrs. Mayra Salinas, prepared a special dance just for them. Grandparents enjoyed the performance and the recital of the poem titled “Mis Abuelos” by 4th grade UIL Spanish Poetry student Delayla Flores. After the performance, they listened to the story The Dot by Peter Reynolds to know how the idea for International Dot Day came about.  To culminate the event, grandparents and children worked on an arts and crafts activity and visited the library.
